NCIS season 20: Parker to discover all about ex-wife after groundbreaking trailer clue
Heading into the historic NCIS and NCIS Hawaii crossover, the second of its kind to come to fruition, fans have been kept in the dark as to exactly what to expect. However, CBS has given fans a new action-packed peek at what lies ahead for the likes of Jane Tennant (played by Vanessa Lachey) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) when they join forces – and it’s safe to say Alden Parker (Gary Cole) will have a major part to play.
Heading into season 20, Parker is currently on the run with ex-wife Vivian Kolchak (Teri Polo) after finding himself in the frame for the m****r of a former rival.
However, unbeknownst to him, he looks like he’s on a one-way journey right into a trap concocted by the mysterious series villain, The Raven.
With ex Vivian seemingly also with a sinister plan up her sleeve, fans will be hoping Parker realises the vulnerable state he’s left himself in before it’s too late.
And the new trailer promoting the NCIS season 20 and NCIS Hawaii season two crossover has dropped a significant hint that he will do just that.
NCIS season 20: Parker to learn the truth about Vivian?
NCIS season 20: Torres and Tennant join forces
The trailer opens with Tennant entering the NCIS office as her voice can be overhead: “Masks. We all have them, don’t we? Hiding something.
“When the world is threatened, who are we supposed to trust?” Tennant ponders.
Throughout, the likes of Kai Holman (Alex Tarrant) and Lucy Tara (Yasmine Al-Bustami) are faced with new c***e scenes, including a victim of a gas a****k and, as Tara describes, a “c***e haven”.
And the hints towards the truth coming out continues through Director Vance (Rocky Carroll), who tells Tennant: “People eventually show you who they really are.”
NCIS season 20: Gary Cole will be back as Alden Parker
But the biggest clue Parker will learn the truth comes as a clip shows him peeking at Vivian without her knowing.
Vivian can be seen hunched over her phone sending a text to an unknown recipient.
Parker is shown peeking through a crack in the door, seemingly confirming he’s onto Vivian’s shady behaviour.
However, Parker’s mistrust is tested when he speaks to old pal and NCIS fan-favourite Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano), who tells him in the trailer: “You’ve got to learn to trust my friend.”
Could Fornell’s misguided encouragement result in deeper trouble for Parker, or will he trust his own instincts to expose Vivian?
Elsewhere in the trailer, fans get to see Jessica Knight enjoying a drink with the Hawaii-based team.
“God I love rum,” she comments after taking a sip from her cocktail, prompting Kai to joke: “More or less than punching bad guys in the face?”
The trailer then cuts to Knight in action as she uses her combat experience to apprehend a suspect before it cuts back to her response: “Ahh.. tough call.”
The trailer also shows Torres and Tennant in action and it seems like the two may clash once again.
“We have to act fast,” Torres insists to his fellow agent, who hits back: “We have to act smart! We have to review the evidence and stick to the plan.”
Add to the mix high-speed car chases, explosions and bone-crushing fight sequences and the NCIS and NCIS Hawaii crossover promises to be an unmissable encounter.
And, of course, Parker gets the last word as he tells investigating officers: “They’re not just my team, they’re my family.”
NCIS season 20 and NCIS Hawaii season 2 premiere on Monday, September 19 on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
