When is the NCIS three-way crossover coming out?

NCIS is marking a major milestone this year as the police procedural has been on CBS for the past 20 years. During this time, there have been three spin-offs and while NCIS New Orleans is no more, Los Angeles is still thriving after 13 series and Hawaii is back for its second outing. So the future is continuing to look bright for the franchise with plans announced for a special crossover involving all three shows.

When is the NCIS three-way crossover coming out?

The news came out through NCIS’ official Instagram account with a video of various fans’ tweets asking for this crossover.

Having listened to what viewers have had to say, CBS revealed this special is on its way, labelling it the “NCISVerse Crossover”.

The caption simply reads: “Did someone ask for a 3-way #NCISverse crossover?

“We’ve got you covered – #NCIS, @ncishawaiicbs, AND @ncisla are joining forces soon.”

The NCISVerse crossover is currently in production and is scheduled to air in January on CBS.

An exact release date is expected to come out nearer the time and hopefully before the end of the year.

This special will see agents from each of the shows team up to solve a case together which involves taking down a “mysterious and highly trained hitman”.

Entertainment Weekly has teased that “several of their own” agents will be his targets, potentially putting all of their lives in danger.

Fans can expect to see the likes of NCIS’ Katrina Law as Jessica Knight, Wilmer Valderrama’s Nick Torres and Gary Cole’s Alden Parker, among others, in the crossover.

They will most likely be joined by NCIS Los Angeles’ Chris O’Donnell as G Callen, LL Cool J as Sam Hanna, NCIS Hawaii’s Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant and Yasmine Al-Bustami as Lucy Tara.

A full cast list for the event hasn’t been announced yet so it isn’t clear exactly who will and won’t be included.

Even though this is great news for fans, some have been left disappointed that the stars of NCIS New Orleans won’t be part of the historic crossover.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “It would have been even cooler if NCIS New Orleans was a part of it also.”

Another added: “Sad that NCIS New Orleans won’t be part of the crossover.”

New Orleans premiered in 2014 and was the first series in the NCIS universe to be cancelled.

The drama aired its final episode in May last year, bringing the story to a close after just seven series.

Nevertheless, the rest of the franchise is still going strong as NCIS celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Meanwhile, NCIS Los Angeles is ready to return for season 14 and NCIS Hawaii for its second series.

So there is still plenty to look forward to as the NCISVerse grows stronger every year.

NCIS Los Angeles season 14 premieres on Sunday, October 9, on CBS in the USA.

NCIS season 20 and NCIS Hawaii season two continue every Monday on CBS in the USA. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
