Is Lucy leaving NCIS Hawaii?

NCIS Hawaii season two is in full swing with new episodes airing every Monday night on CBS after the flagship drama. Viewers have fallen in love with the island state-set spin-off, including the romance between Lucy Tara (played by Yasmine Al-Bustami) and CIA’s Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson). Series two, episode seven, Vanishing Act, however, has left doubt regarding Lucy’s job and future in the show.

Is Lucy leaving NCIS Hawaii?

In the latest episode of NCIS Hawaii, it is discovered that Lucy would be taking on a new job away from her team.

She had applied for the NCIS Agent afloat programme while she was broken up with her girlfriend Whistler.

Lucy wasn’t sure whether she should take the position or stay where she was but Whistler convinced her that she should still go for the job and that their relationship would be fine.

Sadly, the job does mean Lucy will be gone for at least four months which has left fans wondering if actress Yasmine Al-Bustami is planning on returning to the franchise at all.

Thankfully, Lucy’s future with NCIS Hawaii is looking positive as it has already been confirmed that she will be starring in the upcoming NCIS three-way crossover.

The three-hour special is going to feature back-to-back episodes of NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles and NCIS Hawaii, with stars from each show all working on the same investigation.

Al-Bustami will be appearing in the event alongside co-star Vanessa Lachey who plays Agent Jane Tennant.

Fans can look forward to the special on Monday, January 2, 2023 on CBS.

As of yet though, the network hasn’t stated exactly how many episodes Al-Bustami is going to miss or when she is likely to return.

There are two more episodes to air before the crossover comes out as well and it is unclear if she is going to feature in these as well.

There has also been reported speculation that NCIS Hawaii could have a time jump so Lucy won’t be missing from our screens for very long.

Either way, it isn’t believed that the actress will be going anytime soon, given her and Whistler’s popularity with fans.

In season one, the couple had a turbulent time as they already had a romantic past.

An ex-girlfriend also caused trouble for Lucy and Whistler, leading to their break-up.

Whistler was eager to make it up to her true love though and serenaded Lucy at a house party in front of all their colleagues.

Lucy was still very much in love with Whistler and the pair shared a passionate kiss, confirming their relationship was back on.

NCIS Hawaii continues on Monday, November 21, on CBS with episode eight, Curtain Call.

The synopsis reads: “When a naval officer is m******d while moonlighting in community theater, the NCIS team recruits a familiar face to help lead them to a ruthless international k****r.

“Also, Kai enlists Whistler to open an investigation into an old friend turned criminal.”

NCIS Hawaii season 2 continues every Monday on CBS in the USA. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
