‘NCIS’ Says Aloha to a Three-Show Crossover Event and Reveals the Airdate and Storyline!
NCIS’, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ and ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ to air the first-ever three-way crossover. The Fall 2022 season of NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i kicked off with a crossover episode with NCIS: Hawai’i’s Special Agent Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Computer Specialist Ernie Malick (Jason Antoon) taking part in a case in Washington, D.C., where they just happened to be when the action began, and that later moved to Hawaii where the aloha cast was joined by NCIS regulars Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law).
To ring in the New Year, on Monday, Jan. 2, the NCIS crossover universe will expand to a three-way crossover that will also include the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles, making it the first time that the NCIS universe has done so and Valderrama just posted the photo immediately below on his Instagram account with the caption, “Monday January 2nd 2023..History will be made…”
“We are so excited to finally have the long-awaited, first-ever NCISverse crossover to share with our passionate, loyal viewers,” said Amy Reisenbach, executive vice president of current programs at CBS. “The popularity, longevity and continued success of the franchise is a testament to the immense talent of the casts and writing and producing teams who bring these shows to life. They came up with a thrilling story for this epic three-hour event that creatively brings all three NCIS teams together for fans to enjoy in one night and beyond.”
The addition of NCIS: Los Angeles makes the crossover event a little more difficult to plan as it airs on a different night—Sunday—from the other two shows, which are back-to-back on Monday nights. So, for this one time only, NCIS will air at 8 p.m., NCIS: Hawai’i follows at 9 p.m., and NCIS: Los Angeles will move to the Monday night 10 p.m. timeslot.
The story for the three-way crossover centers on a very personal, high-stakes case to take down a mysterious hitman. Team members from the different NCIS divisions come together in Washington, D.C., to celebrate a beloved FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) professor who taught multiple members of each of the squads.
But on the eve of the celebration, the professor is found dead of an apparent suicide and his former students immediately suspect foul play. While investigating his past, they uncover a mysterious hitman, and the more they dig into it, the bigger the targets on their backs become. Members of the team are suddenly k****ed, and all the agents must come together to take down the assassin and save their own.
As can be seen from the top photo, the cast members to look for in these special episodes are NCIS’ Sean Murray (Timothy McGee) Gary Cole (Alden Parker), Valderrama, Knight, and Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer); NCIS: Los Angeles’ Chris O’Donnell (G. Callen) and LL Cool J (Sam Hanna); and NCIS: Hawai’i’s Lachey and Noah Mills (Jesse Boone).
The entire casts of all three shows can’t participate in the crossover because someone needs to be holding down the fort to film their regular episodes, especially when cast members have to fly to Hawai’i, which takes them out of production for an extra amount of time, but this is only a partial list. Look for additional members from each cast to make an appearance.
Here’s how the night will break down:
“Too Many Cooks:” NCIS agents from Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Hawai’i, all in D.C. to attend the retirement party of a beloved Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) professor, find themselves jointly investigating his shocking suicide.
“Deep Fake:” Tennant, Jimmy Palmer, and Sam Hanna are captured with a woman who claims to be a CIA agent demanding intel from the team. Also, Jesse, Ernie, Whistler (Tori Anderson), and Alden Parker learn about an asset that arrived in Hawai’i who could be connected to several overseas assassinations.
NCIS: Los Angeles
“A Long Time Coming:” While Agent Rountree (Caleb Castille) and Fatima (Medalion Rahimi) are searching for Kilbride (Gerald McRaney), who has been MIA, they are ambushed and learn that every member of the team has a $200,000 bounty on their head via the dark web. The NCIS team must save Agent Rountree and find Kilbride while every cartel, hit man, gang and psychopath hunts them down.
The NCIS-verse crossover will air on Monday, Jan. 2 on the CBS Television Network, and stream on Paramount +.
