Marty Deeks’ Backstory is Revealed in NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 as The Boss Hints, ‘It’s Probably Time’

Fans of the hit CBS spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles were ecstatic to learn that the upcoming season of the show may finally shed some light on Marty Deeks’ mysterious past.

Fans of the popular NCIS series have long wanted to learn more about LAPD liaison and newly appointed field agent Marty Deeks (played by Eric Christian Olsen). Although many other members of the NCIS: Los Angeles team have had entire episodes devoted to their backstories, Deeks has yet to have the opportunity, though that may change when the CBS spin-off returns for its 14th season.

Scott Gemmill, the showrunner of NCIS: Los Angeles, has hinted that season 14 may finally include the highly anticipated Deeks, M episode.

Several key members of the team’s origins have been revealed in special flashback episodes throughout the show’s first 13 seasons.

Callen, G, started the tradition in the first season’s finale by focusing on team leader G Callen (Chris O’Donnell), whose entire backstory before joining the NCIS is still unknown.

Despite becoming a fan favorite member of the team, Deeks’ childhood remains a mystery.

“As has become an annual tradition of sorts, I brought this question, again, to showrunner Scott Gemmill,” TV Line’s Matt Webb Mitovich confirmed.

“This time, he replied, ‘I think it’s probably time.’

“‘All I have to do is make sure Eric [Christian Olsen, who plays Deeks] doesn’t write it himself.” He usually writes [an episode] once a year.”

Many fans of the show are excited to finally learn more about the agent after well over a decade of speculation, thanks to the latest update from showrunner Scott.

“OMG, that long requested Deeks, M episode might be coming up on NCIS: LA this season!!” exclaimed @kwanfan1212 on Twitter.

“Another season on NCIS LA, another teaser of the Deeks, M. episode happening this season,” said @KRC1977. When I see it, I’ll believe it!”

“I hope we finally get it,” @cozmodog responded. It should undoubtedly be written by ECO.”

“Who knows Deeks better than Mr Deeks himself?” asked Instagram user @wildemagi.

“Oh, and definitely Frank Military should write it,” @debbiegnz suggested. I always enjoy his shows.”

While @kathyfink65 simply replied with a heart and a fire emoji and the words “about time,” (sic)

Since the series’ inception in 2013, Frank Military has written and directed a number of episodes per season.

He most recently directed the season 13 finale, Down the Rabbit Hole.

The long-time writer has also appeared as David Kessler, a violent k1ller who has become Kensi Blye’s nemesis (Daniela Ruah).

Kessler could make a comeback this season to make things difficult for Kensi and Deeks.

With Frank still available as a writer and guest star, he could be the ideal candidate to bring Deeks’ enigmatic origins to the big screen.

Alternatively, Eric could be tasked with revealing the origins of his own character, as it is still unknown which episode he will write this year.

Even if the episode does not air this season, fans can take heart from the showrunner’s statement that more discussions about Deeks, M are beginning.
