NCIS bags General Hospital and Shameless star for upcoming season 20 stint
NCIS is still going from strength to strength each week despite the recent loss of team leader Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) and other major characters in recent years. With new boss Alden Parker (Gary Cole) heading up the team, the 20th season of the action-packed CBS series has just added an Emmy-winning guest star to its repertoire.
Ainsworth recently confirmed the news in her latest post on her Instagram Story.
The Oklahoma-born actress, 30, is best known for her recurring role as Kristina Davis in ABC’s popular daytime soap General Hospital.
Officially the longest-running American soap currently in production, Ainsworth has appeared in a staggering 507 episodes since 2009.
She took a break from the show in 2011, but returned in 2015 and has remained on the cast ever since.

The actress won a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in 2017 and also won a Young Artist Award in 2011.
Outside of the soap, Ainsworth recently appeared as Amber in an episode of Shameless.
She has also appeared in popular series such as Teen Wolf, iZombie, Criminal Minds and Gilmore Girls over the years.
Her role in the episode is currently unknown, but the title Second Opinion could hint at a medical dilemma for Tim McGee (Sean Murray) and the team.
NCIS recently took a hiatus for a few weeks but will be back next Monday for the 18th episode of season 20, Head Games.
A synopsis reads: “The NCIS team digs deep to investigate a Navy lieutenant who’s accused of trying to m****r her husband, but has no memory of the a****k.
“Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) navigates a potential medical scare.”
If Ainsworth’s episode airs shortly after next week’s instalment, her character Holly could be somehow involved in Kasie’s health woes.
As one of the most popular new members of the team, fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that her medical issues don’t prove to be too serious.
Despite the concerning teaser for NCIS’s return next week, viewers had cause to celebrate as the show was recently renewed for a 21st season.
While popular spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles will come to an end this year, the flagship drama won’t be alone next year as new offshoot NCIS: Hawaii was also renewed.
NCIS season 20 continues Mondays on CBS in the USA and is available to stream on Disney+ in the UK.
